Although the 55-grain Igman .223 Remington cartridge isn't a military round, it fits right in with the brand. For more than 60 years, the Bosnian-based Igman has been churning out ammunition for military and civilian shooters. The .223 Rem is the civilian version of the 5.56 military round, which feeds rifles like the iconic M16. Many AR-shooters like the .223 because it expands their .223 / 5.56 NATO Ammo options. Rifles chambered for 5.56mm can fire .223, but it doesn't work the other way around.

During testing, Igman found that their 55-grain .223 cartridge had a muzzle velocity of 3,231 feet per second. The Igman round features a full-metal jacketed bullet and brass casing.
